Mikhail Saburov is a Los Angeles-based writer and director. His short film BOUND premiered at the 2020 Oscar®-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival. His most recent short film LIKE US premiered at the AFI FEST Conservatory Showcase and was acquired for distribution by sci-fi streaming platform DUST. To date, it has received over 180,000 views. His short films have screened around the globe scoring multiple prizes and nominations and acquiring international distribution in the UK, U.S., Germany and Japan. Mikhail's narrative feature script SILVER made it into Academy Nicholl Fellowship Quarter-Finals 2022.
Currently he is co-writing a feature film for British director Theo Lindquist and teaching screenwriting remotely at The Writer’s Room school in Russia.
Mikhail came to filmmaking after performing on stage and directing plays for over 10 years at a local youth theater in Yekaterinburg, Russia. After moving to the U.S. in 2013, he graduated from New York’s School of Visual Arts, and, most recently, the AFI Conservatory.
